Made a decision yet?

Hi Chance—
As always, it was refreshing to spend time with you. I always love hearing about your kids and all of the great things that are happening in your classroom.
What have you done about Rich’s job offer?

Hi Kerry—
After talking to you (thanks!) and spending more time considering what Rich had in mind for me, it was easy to turn him down. I can see why he thought I was the right person for the job. The trouble with his thinking is that he doesn’t know anything about education and all of the different developmentally appropriate learning environments for various age groups.
It made sense to Rich that because I am a teacher, I would know how to manage the on-site day care at his company.
Early childhood education is a highly specialized field of education and needs someone who knows about best practices for young children. Why do people continue to think that working with very young children requires no special training or education?
It is fabulous that Rich was willing to pay me enough so that I could buy a trendy new car, but I am happy that I told him it was a job for someone with professional skills that I don’t have.
The beat goes on with Stan and Ernie’s mom and her band of angry parents.
I have got to dash….I still have quite a bit of lesson planning ahead of me tonight…
Chance
Good job, Chance! That's a high degree of self-awareness to know he's not the right person for the job. Plus, his school needs him!
Hm! If this level of congruence (Chance’s) were present in every sphere of society, we wouldn’t find ourselves in the pickle we’re in!
