Wanda is LEAVING!!

Hi Chance—
Did you hear the news? Wanda has taken a job at a museum. She is going to lead the education department. If she is dedicated to staying in education, I can’t think of a better job for her: work in a building that is full of objects, not humans.
She is leaving at the end of the semester. The district has agreed to work with the teachers and the school community in naming a new principal.
Needless to say, all of the teachers are overjoyed with the news.
How was your long weekend away with Rich and your other friends?

Hi Kerry—
Great news! Wanda belongs in place where objects are exhibited……much better than a place filled with humans.
The long weekend with Rich was truly healing for me.
When I told everyone about my escapades with Stan, they could not understand why I was even considering staying in education. They are all making tons of money. They have freedom in their work. They can eat and go to the bathroom whenever they want.
Honestly, working in that environment does sound tempting……but I love working with kids……I have a great relationship with all of the students in my class….even the ones who keep me up at night.
When I told them about my classroom and what I am doing with the kids, it was healing for me. It gave me renewed energy to face Stan, even in the face of his crazy beliefs about what constitutes good classroom behavior and good teaching.
I am going to keep showing up for the kids because that is what I do best. It is who I am. At the end of the day, I am meant to teach. I am meant to strengthen democracy one child at a time.
…and after all of my heroic-idealism-talk about democracy, I must admit that I am a little jealous that two of my friends are driving brand-new, very expensive cars.
